A Russian male who helped run the day-to-day business of a bulletproof criminal hosting service has been jailed for 60 months. The owner of the operation could face up to 20 years.
Iran seems to be the center of a prolific phishing campaign. Malicious services and apps masquerading as legitimate ones try to trick users into following a shady link received via SMS.
A sixth hacker from SIM-swapping group The Community has been sentenced. Other members would trick cell carriers into swapping SIMs from the official victim’s phone to a new device owned by the hacker. As a result, cryptocurrency wallets were raided.
In a landmark move, Twitter has updated its privacy policy. Anyone posting any identifying information with the intent to cause distress or harm will be forced to take it down or risk losing their account.
The official Play Store hosted Trojan banking apps between August and November of this year. Up to 300,000 people could be affected.
