Hundreds and thousands of spoofing and social networking sites attacks targeting businesses, their workers, and brands were studied by PhishLabs in the 4th quarter and during 2021.
As per the results, the amount of social networking cyberattacks per target jumped by 103% in January 2021, when companies were facing just almost one attack per day on average. In December, companies saw an average of 68 attacks every month, or nearly two a day.
Other important findings are:
· During Q1 to Q4, the number of hybridized Vishing (audio scamming) attacks triggered by email jumped by 554%.
· The volume of phishing sites noticed in Q4 increased by 28% year after year, including half of the phishing sites staged using just a free program or service.
· Email-borne malware almost tripled in Quarter 4, owing to a rise of ZLoader and Qbot attacks.
· In Q4, 70% of stolen data advertisements were placed on conversation platforms and carding platforms.
