Hey Nordies,

As usual, we are here to bring you some news. Knowledge is an essential part of protection, so let’s see what happened last week on
the cybersecurity front. But before we move on, don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel to get the latest content.

The Polish government claims that hackers responsible for attacks on Ukraine’s government websites are affiliated with Russian security services. According to the Permanent Representative of Poland to the EU, the same group allegedly leaked and published Polish officials’ government correspondence . It also presumably launched a cyberattack against the German Bundestag last summer.

We just would like to remind you that Ukraine experienced a massive cyberattack that took down key governmental websites in the middle of January.

Myanmar’s military junta has floated a cybersecurity law banning the use of VPNs and digital currencies.

The draft bill is currently undergoing requests for comments. If adopted, it will introduce penalties of imprisonment or a fine of up to 3,000 dollars for VPN and digital currency users.

The term of imprisonment will be up to a year.

The law will also obligate companies to provide the personal information of users if requested.

A Hong Kong pro-democracy radio station website was hijacked to become a macOS spyware distributor.

Hackers exploited the website to initiate a watering hole attack and to serve a Safari browser exploit to visitors. These actions allowed them to inject spyware into users’ machines.

Hackers initiated a significant cyberattack against Canada’s foreign affairs department. The attack took place straight after Canada warned of Russia-backed cyberthreats.

The attacks disrupted a host of departmental systems. As a result, employees were barred from browsing.
While the attack didn’t disrupt any critical services, it took days to address it properly.

Nvidia signed an agreement with Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology to teach artificial intelligence to 20,000 students from local universities.

Nvidia expects to impart its knowledge to the Indonesian academic community over the next five years.

Earlier, Indonesia stated that it needs 90 million IT professionals by 2035, so this initiative will likely help achieve this goal.

That’s it for today. Stay safe!
