We now live in a digital age where all processes are automated, and our online presence is synonymous with our own identity. Our professional, personal, and financial lives are inexplicably linked to the internet and other electronic devices. From sharing data and pictures to internet banking, we carry out activities on a medium that a significant fraction of the population still does not understand and thus, is prone to exploitation. It is now coming to our attention that the technology we use to aid our daily lives can trace our actions and even manipulate our behaviors. Therefore, it is crucial for us to understand the methods we employ to protect ourselves online. This TEDx Talk is intended to provide people, who are not well versed with the intricacies of the digital world, with actionable techniques they can employ to safeguard themselves online. Prof. Arpan Kar is Chair Professor in Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He chairs Corporate Relation and also is in multiple board committees in government groups and private universities. He has handled over 40 advisory and training projects across government and industry.
